Limited Release - Big Papua (New Guinea)

Mitch Smith

We sample roast a lot of coffee each month. We are hopeful, as demand warrants, to be able to feature the best of what we’ve sampled each month through a new limited release program. Added bonus, we are excited to be able to share these limited releases to our coffee subscribers who have selected the ‘Suprise Me’ coffee option for their subscription. This month, we are featuring a Medium Roast Papua New Guinea. It is sweet and tangy with tropical fruit and apple notes and an herbal finish. If you’ve been following along on Instagram (@yellowcupllc) you may already be aware that this coffee was featured this week at Firefly Coffee House, Rowe Coffee Co., and Hetty Arts Pastry Truck. Additionally, it will be served at Bravas on Sunday, February 24th at Bravas WTF Sundaze Brunch.

We wanted to have a little fun with this so we’ve changed up packaging as well for these new limited release offerings. You have the option to order an 8 oz. “Pill” Bottle or a 12 oz. “Supplement” Bottle. These are available for order now through our site. Click here to check out the full description.

Thanks, as always, for your continued support!

Where does your coffee bag go?

Mitch Smith

Whether in business or at home, it’s time we all practice sustainability.  In developing our own coffee we must have tried hundreds of different coffees.  With each one there was always that question - where does this bag go when I’m done?  Very seldom did we come across a coffee bag that was biodegradable, let alone at home compostable.  We knew if we ever started our own company, whatever the cost, we needed a bag that didn’t end up littering this fine place we call home.

Coffee is a big business.  We are but a very very very small part of it.  This doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try to set an example for others right?  That’s why we partnered with Pacific Bags Inc. to use their Biotrē bags.  These bags are designed specifically for at home composting but are also fully biodegradable anywhere.  84 days in a properly balanced at home compost and they are gone.

As consumers, our wallets make important decisions all the time.  We thrive on providing specialty organic coffee, supporting local (as much as we can - beans and bags are not exactly Fort Wayne’s core competency) and sustainability.  We hope these are drivers in your decision making, whether it be coffee, clothes, art, food or whatever else you might be in the market for.

We are happy to announce that we now have the same great bag in an 8 oz. size.  As matter of principle and to guarantee freshness, our new 8 oz bags will be the only size available for grinding (unless you ask nicely).

Origins

Mitch Smith

It is hard to believe its been one year already since The Hizzie was developed.  Since then we've been fortunate enough to do so many cool things and meet so many even cooler people.  I keep seeing this post pop-up on Facebook that people share....to summarize it says friends and family are skeptical about another friend or family member starting a new business and would rather continue their existing buying habits versus supporting said friend or family matter.  It has been our experience that this couldn't be further from the truth.  The support from friends and family has been amazing!  The support from a segment of the community, that largely we didn't even know existed a year ago, has been remarkable!  If you hadn't guessed it yet, this inaugural post is a giant THANK YOU.  If you've bought our coffee, told someone about our coffee, hosted a pop up or helped with artwork, design or just listened to us talk endlessly about our passion for coffee and wanting to turn others on to specialty coffee - THANK YOU!!
