Introducing a new single origin - Ethiopian Natural - Yirgacheffe. After sample roasting more than a dozen different naturally processed green coffee from Ethiopia, this was the absolute best of the bunch. We introduced this coffee at the Health Food Shoppe and have received amazing feedback. Now, we are so happy to add this to our site! Try it now while supplies last.

Tasting Notes: Floral and fruity with berry, caramel and citrus

We are so excited to announce that we now have three kinds of coffee available at one or our local favorite destinations, The Health Food Shoppe.   Located at 3515 North Anthony Blvd, Fort Wayne, IN 46805, The Health Food Shoppe has been Fort Wayne's go-to for fresh, healthy foods since 1973.  The 3 coffees available are:

The Hizzie (House) Blend - 3 bean, FTO and organic Central American blend
FTO Nicaraguan - Segovia - Espresso Roast
Ethiopian Yirgacheffe - Medium Roast (and not yet available on our website)

Thanks again for all your support!  Much much love Fort Wayne.

Where does your coffee bag go?

Mitch Smith

Whether in business or at home, it’s time we all practice sustainability.  In developing our own coffee we must have tried hundreds of different coffees.  With each one there was always that question - where does this bag go when I’m done?  Very seldom did we come across a coffee bag that was biodegradable, let alone at home compostable.  We knew if we ever started our own company, whatever the cost, we needed a bag that didn’t end up littering this fine place we call home.

Coffee is a big business.  We are but a very very very small part of it.  This doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try to set an example for others right?  That’s why we partnered with Pacific Bags Inc. to use their Biotrē bags.  These bags are designed specifically for at home composting but are also fully biodegradable anywhere.  84 days in a properly balanced at home compost and they are gone.

As consumers, our wallets make important decisions all the time.  We thrive on providing specialty organic coffee, supporting local (as much as we can - beans and bags are not exactly Fort Wayne’s core competency) and sustainability.  We hope these are drivers in your decision making, whether it be coffee, clothes, art, food or whatever else you might be in the market for.

We are happy to announce that we now have the same great bag in an 8 oz. size.  As matter of principle and to guarantee freshness, our new 8 oz bags will be the only size available for grinding (unless you ask nicely).

It is hard to believe its been one year already since The Hizzie was developed.  Since then we've been fortunate enough to do so many cool things and meet so many even cooler people.  I keep seeing this post pop-up on Facebook that people summarize it says friends and family are skeptical about another friend or family member starting a new business and would rather continue their existing buying habits versus supporting said friend or family matter.  It has been our experience that this couldn't be further from the truth.  The support from friends and family has been amazing!  The support from a segment of the community, that largely we didn't even know existed a year ago, has been remarkable!  If you hadn't guessed it yet, this inaugural post is a giant THANK YOU.  If you've bought our coffee, told someone about our coffee, hosted a pop up or helped with artwork, design or just listened to us talk endlessly about our passion for coffee and wanting to turn others on to specialty coffee - THANK YOU!!
